MA Fashion Journalism and Editorial Direction The Vogue College of Fashion

During my time at the prestigious Vogue College of Fashion, where I pursued a Master’s degree in Fashion Journalism and Editorial Direction, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in one of the most dynamic and influential environments in the fashion industry. The college, renowned for its strong ties to Vogue magazine and its cutting-edge approach to fashion education, offered a rigorous and inspiring curriculum that combined practical editorial training with in-depth cultural and industry analysis. The course equipped me with the tools to craft compelling narratives, produce high-quality editorial content, and develop a critical voice in fashion media. Below are selected examples from my portfolio and academic work completed during my studies.

Assingments Throughout the Course

A Week of Content for Marie Claire UK / Planning and Managing Editorial Content

This piece of work was responding to my first assignment on this course. This assignment was creating aspects from my content plan, including writing 3,000 words worth from my previous content plan and mocking them up in the style of the Marie Claire UK website. I also directed and shot my own imagery for a Marie Claire cover shoot, with editorial imagery to accompany it, and mocking it up in the style of a MC cover shoot interview article.

Audience Research Report / MA Critical Research: Understanding Audiences

This is an academic, audience-based research report that spanned over one module over two terms and took a significant amount of time. For this, we followed a traditional research report format, including literature reviews, primary and secondary research, and results analysis. This assignment was in preparation for our Final Master's Project, helping us to get a taste of what is required of us for our final assignment.

Written Article Portfolio / MA Fashion Writing and Criticism

This is a mini-portfolio with 4 articles, aimed at improving our writing as journalists and helping to build our portfolio for future industry projects. The portfolio contains a variety of article styles; a review, an interview, a trend piece, and an opinion/feature piece. It helped improve and expand our skills in writing and researching articles, and allowed us to create a small portfolio of writing for the future to present to potential employers.

Buffalo Zine Insight Report / MA Fashion Media Futures

This was my first assignment I completed at the college. We were tasked with creating an insight report on a chosen publication of our choice. We worked in groups with the MA Creative Direction course to produce group research and collaborate with each other, creating our own individual reports. This was looking at understanding a magazine's ethos and identity, as well as looking at where publications sit in the market and audience-based research.
